Compliance

I was warned awhile back that I was not in sufficient compliance with my training program. I laugh because I’m paying for this so I should be able to do whatever I want (or want not) to, but apparently it’s not acceptable to take off days at a time when one is training for an IM. Noted.

I have been in absolute compliance this week. After gorging myself with food over the weekend (and literally gaining 4 pounds), I decided to enact a Christmas resolution of getting serious about my training. Look at me go…

Tuesday – biked on trainer for an hour in the morning, ran 6+ miles with the team at night

Wednesday – swam for an hour before work

Thursday – easy spin in CP before work, ran 4 miles on the treadmill in the afternoon

Friday – swam before work, (planned) easy run in CP in the afternoon

I’m doing the midnight run in CP tomorrow night, which should be fun. It’s sad to admit that this training has taken over my life but, well, it has, so I figure I might as well embrace it. I hope to not spend my next New Year’s Eve trotting around a park with a bunch of other sober people.

More Recovery

Once I start training again I will start blogging again. I was in CT all week for some exciting software training. I had big plans to work out at the hotel gym, but that never happened. I have a tough 15k run tomorrow, so maybe we can just call it tapering?

Weak Update

The more I put off updating, the more daunting the task becomes. Isn't that how it always works? I'm going to cheat and just give the highlights of what's flying around in my noggin:

1. I need to push myself. I often make the conscious decision to hold back. It's not that I'm afraid to push my limits, but rather I know exactly where they are and I choose to stay far away.

2. My spine is slightly twisted, causing my hips to be out of alignment. I saw a chiropractor today. I think we will become great friends. Also, he's balding.

3. I'm moving to Denver, hopefully sometime within the next year (but after IMLP).

I think that's all you need to know for now.
